From GenAI to Agentic AI: How Hexaware is Future-Proofing its Workforce

1 Mins read

In a strategic move to prepare its global teams for the next wave of artificial intelligence, Hexaware Technologies has partnered with upGrad Enterprise to launch the Agentic AI Academy. This initiative aims to equip employees with the specialised skills needed for “agentic” systems, which are autonomous and intelligent software agents capable of real-time planning and adaptation.

The new academy builds on a successful two-year programme that trained 95% of Hexaware’s workforce in foundational generative AI skills. With AI evolving at a rapid pace, the company is now focusing on the advanced skills necessary for the emerging AI-driven economy.

“Agentic technologies are becoming fundamental to how enterprises operate,” said Vinod Chandran, Chief Operating Officer at Hexaware. “The Agentic Academy ensures our people are equipped not only to use these systems, but to lead engagements built around them.”

A Shift in Skills for a New AI Landscape

The academy’s curriculum moves beyond basic AI knowledge to focus on practical, role-based applications. The program is tailored for specific teams and their unique needs:

  • Builder.AI: For developers and engineers who will be building agent architectures from the ground up, with a focus on orchestration and safety protocols.
  • Collaborator.AI: For teams that need to adapt and customise agent solutions within specific client environments.
  • Manage.AI: For delivery and operations leaders who will be overseeing agent-human interactions, quality assurance, and real-time monitoring.

This structured, practical approach is designed to create a “common language and shared fluency” across the organisation, turning a technology trend into a sustainable competitive advantage.

A Focus on Practical Application

The partnership with upGrad Enterprise allows for a curriculum that is not only scalable but also aligned with real-world business needs. The training is delivered via upGrad’s platform and includes a combination of content, labs, and certifications that are integrated into the flow of work.

Satyajith Mundakkal, Hexaware’s Chief Technology Officer, noted, “We are moving from automation to intelligent orchestration, where agents collaborate, decide, and deliver outcomes. This shift is redefining roles and creating demand for Agentic expertise. Our goal is to equip talent to lead real-world Agentic assignments with confidence and capability.”

This investment in advanced AI skilling highlights how forward-thinking companies are proactively preparing their workforces for the future, ensuring their people can not only adapt to new technologies but also thrive in an increasingly AI-driven workplace.
