In a major move to future-proof the UK workforce, the country’s leading tech skills provider, QA Ltd, has announced that Microsoft Copilot AI learning will be integrated into every one of its apprenticeship programmes.
This landmark initiative, developed in partnership with Microsoft, signifies a crucial step in preparing employees across all sectors—not just technology—to thrive in an AI-enabled workplace. It effectively makes general AI proficiency a foundational skill for the next generation of UK talent.
Democratizing AI Skills
The core of the initiative is the belief that AI tools must be democratized. Every apprentice, regardless of whether they are training in finance, marketing, or HR, will gain access to tailored Copilot training, including digital learning, live webinars, and hands-on experience.
“This is about more than just tech skills—it’s about empowering every learner to thrive in an AI-enabled workplace and helping UK businesses stay ahead of the curve,” said Jo Bishenden, Chief Learning Officer at QA.
This integration is directly aligned with the UK Government’s AI Skills Action Plan. It sets a new benchmark for L&D and talent acquisition strategies across the country, signalling to HR leaders that AI tool literacy must now be considered a core competency during both training and recruitment.
Focus on Responsible AI
Crucially for organizational peace of mind, the programme is being delivered with an emphasis on responsible AI use, transparency, and fairness, aligning with the principles of the EU AI Act.
Jeroen Van Hilten, Global Partner Sales Executive at Microsoft, stated that the partnership reflects a shared mission to “democratise effective leveraging of AI tools and build a future-ready workforce.”
The move reinforces that the modern apprenticeship is evolving quickly. By embedding training on powerful generative AI tools like Copilot into the curriculum for all disciplines, QA is ensuring that the UK workforce is equipped not just with job-specific skills, but with the necessary technological literacy to maintain a global competitive advantage.
